Mike Porter, Ph.D., has conducted sales and customer service training for over 30 years, in addition to extensive work developing training materials for sales and marketing. In his current role as Distinguished Service Professor of Marketing at the University of St. Thomas, Porter teaches a variety of marketing and communication courses, and conducts research on various communication, retailing, and customer service topics. He holds an MBA in marketing and a doctorate in leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
Jay Botten, M.A., has over thirty years of experience working in small to medium size companies, primarily in the hospitality industry. His work includes a lifetime of direct customer service experience, as well as educating and training front-line personnel in customer engagement. He has served as Director of Operations, General Manager, and Controller at some of the Twin Cities' most enduring and nationally recognized restaurants, including The Birchwood Café, The French Meadow Café, and Patisserie 46. Jay Botten is a Veteran of the United States Navy. He has earned two Master's of Arts degrees, from St. John's University and Hamline University.
