Earn Extra Cash and Explore More This Summer
As summer approaches and vacation plans take shape, many mystery shoppers might wonder: Can I mystery shop while traveling? The answer is a resounding Yes! In fact, combining vacation with mystery shopping can be a fantastic way to make extra cash, explore new places, and offset travel expenses, all while doing something you enjoy.
Earn money while staying at your destination.
Great for mealtimes during your trip.
Perfect for road trips.
Turn sightseeing into paid assignments.
If you’re thinking about mystery shopping while on vacation, it’s important to plan in advance. Before picking up any travel-related shops, be sure to notify our scheduling department about your upcoming trip. Our team will need to review and approve any assignments outside your usual shopping area to ensure coverage and eligibility.
Once you’ve submitted your travel plans and shop requests, our coordinating team may reach out either by email and/or phone call to confirm whether you’ve been approved to complete the shops during your trip. Please wait for this confirmation before moving forward with any assignments. If you’re ever unsure about the results of your request, don’t be afraid to ask.
In the meantime, you can browse available shops along your travel route or near your destination to get an idea of what’s possible. To do this, click the blue “+” icon in the bottom-right corner of the “Find Shops” page, then select the pencil icon labeled “Search an Address, Zip, City, State.” Planning ahead helps ensure a smooth experience and allows us to support you with the best opportunities while you’re on the road.
While it’s tempting to sign up for several shops to maximize earnings, remember that your vacation comes first. Choose shops that are easy to complete without interrupting your plans. Airport shops, hotel evaluations, or restaurant visits can seamlessly blend into a travel day.
Bring what you need to complete shops efficiently: a phone or tablet, charger, reliable internet connection, and any tools you normally use (like a notepad or small bag for receipts). Save photos and notes as you go so you don’t forget important details later.
Each shop has a specific timeframe for submission. If you’re moving between locations quickly, make sure you’ll have time (and Wi-Fi) to complete your reports on time. Setting calendar reminders can help keep you on track.
Keep in mind that mystery shopping is a job, even while on vacation. Remember, shoppers are contracted by Secret Shopper® on behalf of clients, and to receive payment, evaluations must be completed accurately and in accordance with the client’s requirements. Be discreet, follow instructions carefully, and avoid multitasking during evaluations. Make sure to balance work and relaxation so that your vacation stays enjoyable.
Mystery Shopping on vacation is a creative way to supplement your travel budget and add purpose to your downtime. With a bit of planning and a flexible mindset, you can enhance your trip, earn some cash, and create even more meaningful travel memories. So go ahead – pack your bags, hit the road, and mystery shop your way through summer!
